Abstract
During the summer of 2015, New York, New York, USA, had one of the largest and deadliest outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease in the history of the United States. A total of 138 cases were reported, with 16 deaths. This comprehensive outbreak investigation examines the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak caused by an endemic strain of Legionella pneumophila in New York City during 2015, providing critical insights into the molecular epidemiology, environmental sources, transmission dynamics, and public health response to this major urban outbreak.
