Abstract

Background: Influenza is an important cause of respiratory illness in children, but data are limited on hospitalized children with laboratory‐confirmed influenza in China. Methods: We conducted surveillance for severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) and laboratory-confirmed influenza among hospitalized children in Jingzhou, China. This comprehensive study provides critical insights into pediatric severe respiratory infections and influenza epidemiology in China, filling important knowledge gaps about childhood respiratory disease burden in the region.
